Graduate Finalist, Lemelson-MIT Student Prize

M. Everett Lawson

Everett Lawson is a master’s degree student in the MIT Media Lab. Everett invented eyeMITRA, a small, inexpensive device to non-invasively screen and monitor the early development of many systemic diseases that manifest in the back of the eye years before detection with standard methods. This disruptive technology enabled by clever optics, computational imaging techniques and novel illumination can extract vital information about your well-being, including early stages of diabetic retinopathy, the world’s leading cause of preventable blindness.
